Who we are and
what we do?
SELIGENDA Membrane Technologies S.r.L. is an innovative start-up founded in 2020 and focused on the research, development, production and marketing of membranes and membrane technologies for efficient and low-cost technological solutions, specifically designed to intensify purification processes in biotechnological, biomedical, pharmaceutical, food, energy and environmental fields.
It is a joint non-participated spin-off of the University of Calabria (UNICAL) and Italian National Research Council (CNR) and has its roots in twenty years of scientific research experience of team members in the field of membrane engineering, and coordination/participation in EU-funded projects (FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe programs).
Our ambitious mission is to replace or hybridize conventional and expensive downstream processing platforms (mostly based on chromatographic separation units) for purification of biomolecules with the next generation of integrated membrane systems. The modularity of the membrane operations - coherently with the paradigm of Process Intensification - guarantees an easy scale-up and a flexible productivity, offering the possibility to operate according to the principle of “continuous manufacturing”.

IN BIOTECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS
We design integrated membrane systems for downstream processing in pharmaceutical industry, with applications to the purification of biomolecules.
We develop breakthrough membrane-based crystallization systems for the recovery – in solid phase – of biomolecules, including Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, proteins and mAbs.
We develop tailor-made polymeric membranes (in flat-sheet or capillary/hollow-fiber configuration) for the versatile and modular separation of compounds from liquid mixtures.
Assessment of membrane technology and processes in processes in biotechnological, biomedical, pharmaceutical, water, energy and environmental fields.
